Found by the Light

There’s a spot on the bank of the pond in the backyard where the sun shines brightly for a short time in the early morning. Its rays stretch low across the ground reaching over the water illuminating the earth beneath a pine tree. I find it fascinating that this place so low and obscure should be kissed by the sun before so many others that are out in the open and readily accessible.

It feels intentional. This act of searching out this unlikely place in order to grace it with light. As if the sun goes out of its way each morning to caress this little spot on the bank that will remain in shadow the rest of the day once the sun goes on about its business.

Sometimes Love is like that. Reaching lower and farther than we’d imagined possible. To the darkest places. Places where we’ve hidden ourselves away. Hidden, but hoping to be found. Love knows this. He searches high and low until He finds us. And Love always finds us.

I have been cold and alone wandering in the shadows asking myself if it would always be that way, but Love stretched out His hand across all that separated us and lit up the darkness with His beautiful brilliance. For truly, what could separate us? Even the darkness is light to Him. There is no place He won’t go.

Love found me. He came to me and whispered in my ear that I was never lost to Him. He was always there.

Psalm 139:7-12
