The Shepherd's Gift

I saw the light.

I heard the voice.

The message not quite clear.

Something ’bout a savior.

The Christ was somewhere near.

 

The others rushed to see Him.

I trailed along behind.

Could this be real, or was it just

A figment of my mind?

 

A star shone down from heaven

And led us to the place.

Each gathered ’round and bowed his head

One fell upon his face.

 

I crept inside and gazed upon

The silent little lamb.

My soul cried out at just the thought

Of what I really am.

 

I knew then the only gift

Worthy to impart.

I knelt beside the manger

And gave him my heart.
